1. Who we are

We publish The Alpha Engine Report as a newsletter and related content. We use Beehiiv to operate the publication website, email list, and (where available) subscription billing. Payment processing for paid plans may be handled by Stripe (and/or other processors Beehiiv enables); those parties process payment information according to their own terms and privacy policies.

2. Information we collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:

• Contact and account data: email address; name if you provide it; subscription tier or status (free waitlist, paid, etc.).
• Communications: messages you send to us (for example, email to [email protected]).
• Usage and technical data: information that Beehiiv (and your browser) automatically logs in connection with the site and emails, such as device/browser type, approximate location derived from IP, pages viewed, and email engagement signals (for example, opens and clicks) as implemented by Beehiiv.
• Payment data (paid subscriptions): when you subscribe to a paid plan, payment information is collected and processed by our payment processors (such as Stripe). We generally do not receive your full card number; we may receive limited billing metadata (for example, last four digits, expiration, subscription status).

We do not knowingly collect sensitive categories of personal information beyond what is needed to operate the publication and process subscriptions.

3. How we use information

We use personal information to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve the publication (including sending newsletters and transactional messages).
• Process subscriptions, payments, renewals, and cancellations through Beehiiv and payment processors.
• Understand aggregate engagement with our content and infrastructure (for example, to improve deliverability and product experience).
• Respond to inquiries and provide support.
• Detect, prevent, and address abuse, fraud, or technical issues.
• Comply with law, enforce our Terms of use, and protect rights and safety.

4. Legal bases (EEA, UK, and similar jurisdictions)

Where the GDPR or similar laws apply, we rely on one or more of the following:

• Contract: processing needed to provide the subscription or service you requested.
• Legitimate interests: operating and improving the publication, securing our systems, and understanding aggregate performance—balanced against your rights.
• Consent: where required for cookies or similar technologies, or where we explicitly ask for consent.
• Legal obligation: where the law requires us to process or retain information.

5. How we share information

We share personal information only as needed:

• Beehiiv: hosts our website, email delivery, list management, and related publisher tools. Beehiiv processes data on our behalf according to its agreements and policies.
• Payment processors (e.g., Stripe): to charge, renew, and manage paid subscriptions when you enroll in a paid plan.
• Professional advisors: lawyers, accountants, or insurers when required for legitimate business purposes.
• Authorities: when required by law, legal process, or to protect rights, safety, and security.

We do not sell your personal information as that term is commonly defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA). We also do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as a “sale” or “sharing” under CPRA.

6. International transfers

We are based in the United States. If you access the publication from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States and other countries where Beehiiv or payment processors operate. Those countries may have different data protection rules than your own. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses offered by processors).

7. Retention

We retain personal information for as long as needed to operate the publication, fulfill the purposes in this policy, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Email subscriber data is generally retained while your subscription is active and for a reasonable period afterward unless you ask us to delete it (subject to legal exceptions).

8. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures appropriate to the nature of the data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:

• Access personal information we hold about you.
• Correct inaccurate information.
• Delete certain information, subject to exceptions (for example, records we must keep for tax or fraud-prevention reasons).
• Object or restrict certain processing.
• Port certain information in a machine-readable format.
• Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
• Opt out of certain marketing (you may always use the unsubscribe link in our emails).

California residents (CCPA/CPRA): You may have the rights above, including the right to limit use of certain sensitive personal information (we do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information for unrelated purposes). You will not receive discriminatory treatment for exercising these rights. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as described in §5.

How to exercise rights: Email [email protected] with your request. We may need to verify your identity before responding. You may also designate an authorized agent where permitted by law.

If you are in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland and believe we have not resolved your concern, you may contact your local data protection authority.

10. Children

The publication is not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected information from a child, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

11. Third-party links

Our website or emails may link to third-party sites or services. We are not responsible for their privacy practices. Read their policies before providing information.

12. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy on this page and update the “Last updated” date. If changes are material, we will provide additional notice as appropriate (for example, by email or a notice on the site).
